Went to Ampang Lookout point yesterday, first time going there. The plan was to shoot the sunset, but the weather was kinda hazy, so couldn’t get a nice shot of the sun. So we decided to stay and wait for nightfall for some KL night view. Of all the photos this one is my favourite. The rest can be seen at flickr here.
Mini Cosplay Photoshoot at Bkt Jalil Part 1

A Mini Cosplay Photoshoot outing organized by Demonic Angel from CF forum at Bkt Jalil. No specific series this time, it’s a crossover between Air Gear, Trinity Blood, Vampire Princess Miyu and Mario.
The shoot was done late in the afternoon hence the harsh lightning in some of the photos. Fortunately I do have my flash with me for some fill flash. More photos after the jump but be warn, it’s very very image heavy xD.

Final batch of the Perkeliling photoshoot, this was our second model of the day. The shots were all done indoor in the run down flat. Wanted to try a different feel for this batch so I tweak the saturation and added a light sepia tone to it. Kinda like the final effect.

Perkeliling Flat photoshoot ~ Carol

This is my first ever urban portrait shoot, all my previous portrait shoot are at park, which gets a bit boring to me sometimes. Joined an outing organized recently by a fellow photog at Perkeliling Flat area, the place makes for some interesting shots. The area we were shooting at was basically an abandon flat, which is quite dangerous actually, so it’s best to go there in group.
Location was choosen by the group of models we were shooting, the theme was “Mysterious beauty” but I am not even sure if the shots I took fit the theme. Anyway first set of the series is of Carol, I think this is the best set I have for the day shoot.

Cute Cheryl Part II

Part II of Cheryl’s photoshoot, same lens as the previous one.
Tried something different at the start of part II shoot. Wanted to play around with wireless flash a bit, so for I ask my friend to mount his 430ex as slave on a tripod and place it behind and to the model’s left as I wanted to use it as a sort of hair light. The main light will be coming from my 580exII mounted on my 400D, the 580exII will act as a master as well.
After a few tries the shot below was the best from the batch, still the light is a bit harsh on the neck though, probably since the flash is direct, if it’s bounce or through an umbrella result could have been better I think.

To USM or not to USM

Earlier this year I bought a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens, it’s the old version, without USM and the barrel extend during focusing. I was actually aiming for the newer USM version but couldn’t find any in the used market at the time. Well even though it’s an old lens it’s still perform quite well, but I still wants to get the USM version if I can…

A recent model shoot at Taman Tasek Permainsuri, the girl is my friend’s colleague and this is her first time doing a model shoot. She was quite nervous at first, but after a while she began to loosen up a bit, talking and joking with her helps I guess.
Anyway this shoot was a good chance for me to try out my EF 50mm f/1.4 so the whole shoot was done entirely using that lens.
